1. Who we are

Gravel & Thistle Cove ("we", "us", "the Cove") is an independent editorial guide to hidden-gem Android games, operated from Bracebridge, Ontario. We are the organisation responsible for the personal information collected through this website, and we handle it in accordance with PIPEDA and its ten fair information principles.

2. Scope of this notice

This notice applies to personal information we collect through gravelthistlecove.com — chiefly through our subscribe form and through optional browser push notifications. It does not apply to the Google Play Store or to the third-party game studios we link to; those services have their own privacy policies.

3. What we collect

Information you give us

• Subscribe form: the name, email address, and optional phone number you enter, plus the fact that you ticked the consent box.
• Correspondence: anything you send us if you email or phone us.

Information collected automatically

• Push subscription: if you opt in to browser notifications, our provider records an anonymous push token, your browser/device type and your notification preference.
• Basic technical data: standard server and cookie data such as IP address, browser type and pages viewed, used to keep the site secure and working.

4. Why we collect it (purposes)

• To send you the updates and occasional notes you asked for;
• To deliver browser push notifications you have opted into;
• To respond to your questions and messages;
• To operate, secure and improve the website.

We identify these purposes at or before the time of collection, and we do not use your information for unrelated purposes without your consent.

5. Consent

We rely on your consent. You provide it by ticking the consent box and submitting the subscribe form, and separately by allowing browser notifications when your browser prompts you. You may withdraw consent at any time (see section 9); withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.

6. Push notifications & service providers

Browser push notifications are powered by OneSignal, a third-party web-push service acting as our processor. OneSignal receives the anonymous push token and tags described above so that notifications can be delivered. We ask our providers to protect personal information to a standard comparable to PIPEDA. 7. Cookies

We use a small number of essential and functional cookies and similar storage. Full details, including how to manage them, are in our Cookie Policy.

8. Disclosure and cross-border storage

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run the site (such as our web-push and hosting providers), and only as needed to provide the service. Some of these providers may store data on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. We take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection through our agreements with them.

9. Your rights under PIPEDA

• Access: you may ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used or disclosed;
• Correction: you may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
• Withdraw consent: you may unsubscribe from emails, turn off browser notifications in your browser settings, or ask us to stop contacting you at any time;
• Complain: you may contact us first, and you also have the right to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

To exercise any of these rights, contact our privacy officer using the details below. We respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days.

10. Retention and safeguards

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as required by law, then delete or anonymise it. We protect it with reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards appropriate to its sensitivity, including HTTPS transport and access controls.

11. Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their personal information; if you believe a child has provided it, please contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes

We may update this notice from time to time. The "last updated" date above reflects the current version, and material changes will be posted on this page.
